Po-Pia - Spring Rolls - A Prawn wrapped in a light pastry, deep-fried and served with a plum or sweet chilli sauce. - R37
Medley of Dim Sum - Steamed dumplings with an assortment of fillings including: Prawns, shitake mushrooms, crabsticks and a delicious combination of prawn and shitake mushrooms. Served with a vinegary Dim sum sauce. - R39
Mains
Phad Graphao - Basil - Wok-fried Beef and basil leaves paired with selected vegetables, chilli and garlic. - R72
Phad Khing Nam Man Hoi - Ginger Oyster - Beef and Ginger, onions, garlic, peppers and wood-ear mushrooms, wok-fried in oyster sauce. - R72
Wang Thai in Constantia is located below ground level which took a little getting used to. The restaurant was very busy and included two large tables of very noisy patrons. The noise level was a little uncomfortable at times.
Our watron was very efficient - giving us plenty time to read through the extensive menu. And yet not keeping us waiting once we were finally ready to order.
Our Prawn Spring Roll starter (top left picture) consisted of 4 small prawns wrapped in pastry. Although not the kind of spring rolls we were expecting, they were tasty.
The Medley of Dim Sum (top right picture) also consisted of 4 items and we found we didn't enjoy this selection quite as much.
We found both main meals to be similar in taste (similar ingredients) with a slightly different flavour (basil (bottom right picture) apposed to ginger and oyster sauce (bottom left picture)).
We felt the size of both starters and main meals were rather small for the price, but we were very happy to pay for the quality of meals. Both main meals were delicious.
Side rice was an extra R16 which we shared.
Having such great service and a delicious meal made for a very enjoyable experience and we look forward to our return. |
