| We were feeling like Mexican food and happened to come across Fat Cactus.
The restaurant has seating both inside and outside. We chose to sit inside.
We decided to have a selection of items from the menu.
Chilli Poppers - 'The Original' - cheese stuffed jalapenos w/ salsa mayo - R35
The starter contained 4 rather small chilli poppers. We weren't very fond of the batter, but the chilli itself was very tasty. (Top right picture)
Cheesy Nachos - Cheese grilled corn tortilla chips w/ guaco & salsa - R25
We were pleasantly surprised at the quantity of Nachos received for the reasonable price. Nachos were very tasty, although not much guaco. (Bottom left picture)
Chicken Wings - Grilled sticky & finger licking, Buffalo, BBQ or mole basted - R39
Although the menu gives you a choice of flavours, no such luck when ordering. We were told we could only have BBQ. The starter consisted of 8 very small wings. They were grilled, yes. Sticky, not so much. Finger licking, definitely not. Rather disappointed. Came with salsa and needed some sort of mayo sauce. (Top left picture)
The atmosphere is casual, service was fine, but not such a memorable meal. Most of the items we had came with a side of home made salsa. I would suggest they serve things like chicken wings and chilli poppers with some kind of sauce instead. Would greatly improve the taste. |
