| We enjoyed our experience the last time we visited Dunes, so we decided to go back for a second time.
This time, unfortunately, we had a somewhat different experience with the service.
For starters we ordered the Herb crumbed button mushrooms and the Green Asparagus spears. Our waiter didn't really seem to understand us and he kept asking us to repeat ourselves. The starters took over 15 minutes to arrive. When they eventually did, we were a little shocked by the fact that we were served 4 (FOUR) small button mushrooms at the cost of R46.00. Over R10.00 a mushroom seemed a little excessive. The mushrooms themselves were done quite nicely and were tasty. The Asparagus consisted of approximately 8 spears and was also quite tasty at R48.00 for the dish.
We enjoyed the steak on our last visit, so we decided to order it again.
Again our waiter seemed very confused when we placed our order. The steak eventually came after 20 minutes. Again, we were shocked when we saw the portion of steak on our plates. They claim that the steak weighs 250 grams. If the steak on our plates weighed as much as 150 grams we would be very surprised. Further, when we cut into them, we were disappointed to find out that the steak was not medium, as we ordered, more like very well done.
Extremely disappointed with our main meals, we hoped for the best for our dessert.
Due to the extremely slow service, by this time we really just wanted to eat and go. We asked the waiter if he could please ask the kitchen to hurry our order for dessert.
We ordered Dutch Apple pie with whipped cream and Double chocolate fudge pudding with ice cream. I guess the kitchen never got the rush order, as our deserts took almost 15 minutes to arrive. When they did arrive, the Apple pie had been served with ice cream and the Chocolate pudding had been served with cream. So it had to be sent back to the kitchen so they could change the order. Another 5 minutes and we finally had our dessert.
Dessert was ok but nothing special.
Overall, we left feeling less than satisfied, especially with the shocking service. |
