| If you're actually lucky enough to find where Deez is located (it's stuck away under a tree, behind a building, etc), you'll be quite surprised to know you're still in South Africa. It really felt like we were in Mexico. So I guess you can call the restaurant somewhat authentic.
As for the food..... don't expect to receive a menu when you sit down at one of the few outside tables. Glance over at their blackboard on the wall and decide what you'd like to try. Prices are nowhere to be found, so you'll need an open wallet.
Deez kneez - spiced chicken wings or drumsticks (starter or main portions)
Verdict: We chose the starter which included 4 large chicken wings. I was quite surprised at how similar they tasted to Cantina Tequila chicken wings. They came with salsa and guacamole. They weren't bad but I would have preferred if they had some sort of dipping sauce.
Nachos Grande – With a selection of fillings (Chilli Con Carne, Mexican chicken, Beef, Stir fry veg, Refried beans) and melted cheese
Verdict: This was a large portion. 10 large Nachos with two of each of the fillings above. Very filling. Tasted fine although I wouldn't order them again.
Service was fine, food was fine but not memorable. Prices were average to pricey. |
