| Quote: "BARRISTERS is renowned for its tender, juicy steaks and is arguably the finest steakhouse in South Africa, but don't listen to us, judge for yourself. Carefully aged, from 3 – 5 weeks then skilfully cleaned and portioned before grilling. Finally dipped into our secret basting sauce and grilled to perfection for the unique flavour that only Barristers can provide. We offer a selection of the finest cuts available and guarantee an extraordinary taste experience."
Order: 2 x 300g Fillet Steaks (Medium), Sides of Chips (they were out of wedges) and Creamed spinach and butternut.
Cost: R140 each
Steaks arrived well done and not medium, as requested. After our first bite, we found the steak extremely dry and tasteless. (Bottom left picture). We informed our waiter, who then abruptly grabbed the plates and went off without even an apology. When the fresh steaks arrived, they were clearly on the medium/rare side. (Bottom right photo). Even though more rare than we would have liked, they certainly were not as dry and tasteless as the first lot. I still can't say I enjoyed the steak very much. This is surprising, as the rump/sirloin steaks we've had at Barristers several times before have been very tasty. (See Review Number 2 above)
The side of vegetables were not as tasty as other restaurants. (Like Cattle Baron, etc)
We found the waiter was very abrupt and unpleasant. We had the same experience with him on a previous visit. It doesn't make for a very enjoyable visit. |
